About the course
This beginner‑friendly course teaches how to connect IoT hardware to AWS IoT Core, send sensor data to the cloud, and add basic Edge AI ideas on the device side. Learners start from account creation and hardware setup, then move through library installation, secure thing and policy creation, and live data upload using MQTT.
The course also introduces simple Edge AI concepts such as running light decision logic or pre‑trained models on the device before sending data to AWS, so that only useful events reach the cloud. By the end, students can build small, intelligent IoT prototypes that collect data, take decisions locally, and update dashboards in AWS.
What you will learn?
By completing this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain the basic workflow of an IoT + Edge AI system from sensor to device to AWS cloud.
- Create and configure an AWS account ready for IoT development and testing.
- Identify hardware and edge AI‑ready boards such as ESP32/NodeMCU or similar microcontrollers.
- Install the required libraries and SDKs to connect devices securely to AWS IoT Core.
- Register a Thing, generate certificates, and create IoT policies to control device permissions.
- Publish sensor or simulated data from edge devices to AWS topics and view it in the MQTT test client or dashboards.
- Understand how Edge AI can filter, classify, or trigger events on the device before sending data to the cloud, using simple threshold or pre‑trained model examples.
